I found headlights on amazon for $40. Is it better to buy them from amazon or just get headlight restoration?

If restoration means replacing the bulb, then yes. Otherwise it’s cheaper to get a new Chinese knockoff that will be new and good enough. 40 bucks is hard to beat. Ebay is a good source too.
I use a tub of green turtle wax polishing compound. It works great. You may have to rub it on every 6 months or so, but it sure beats the cost of new headlights.
Try the restoration kit from 3M…. its $13 and can be found at Autozone or Advance. It’s simple enough that my 16 year old daughter can do a set of headlights in 30 minutes.
After you do yours…. you can take care of mom or dads car too….
