car detailing tips
Michael J Lee asked:

There are many tips to consider when you arrange your car hire. Whether you are arranging car hire in your own country or abroad many of these car hire tips are still relevant.

Car Hire Tip 1) It is very important to shop around for the best car hire deal and the internet offers the perfect opportunity to research the best car hire deal at your finger tips.

Car Hire Tip 2) Many car hire companies will offer very attractive rates to upgrade your car hire locally at the pick up point. Some companies’ will even a complimentary upgrade if the model you have selected is in strong demand. It is always worth asking at the rental counter if there is any possibility of an upgrade at the collection point.

Car Hire Tip 3) It is always prudent to pay for your car hire online including all extras. Some car hire companies ask for a deposit with balance payable upon collection of the car at your destination. However you will probably have to pay the balance on a credit card in the local currency, which is then subject to the penal currency conversions rates charged by the credit card company which can have a real impact on the amount you actually end up paying for your car hire. The tip here is to try to pay in full at the time of the car hire reservation and in the currency of your credit card.

Car Hire Tip 4) You should always check the terms and conditions of your rental contract prior to confirming the reservation, especially the amount of the insurance excess. As it may appear that you have got the best car hire quote but the insurance policy may be subject to a prohibitly high insurance excess which could prove to be very costly in the event of an accident even a minor prang.

Many car hire companies also offer an option to purchase additional insurance to reduce the amount of excess you are responsible for. Some companies will even provide a Nil insurance excess for a small additional insurance premium.

Please also check the position regarding breakdown cover and what you are liable.

Car Hire Tip 5) Always book your car hire as early as you are able, as it is very unusual to find late availability reservation offers. Book your car hire early, especially if you have a specific vehicle or type of car hire in mind. For example minibuses, people carriers, 4×4, automatic vehicles and the like are in much demand. Car Hire Tip 6) Automatic car hire or manual transmission? If you have a preference please ensure that you make this request when you make your car hire reservation. This tip is crucial if you only drive automatic transmission cars.

Car Hire Tip 7) Many car hire companies request for the rental car to be returned at the end of the rental period with a full tank of petrol. It is a good idea to fill the car with petrol or diesel close to the return location, as if the car hire company has to fill the car when you return the vehicle, they usually charge a much higher rate per litre than you would be charged at a petrol station.

Some car hire companies ask you to return the car empty and charge you for a full tank of petrol. This can work out to be an expensive option, unless you are going to be completing a lot of miles and are in a position to return the car with a fairly empty petrol tank. Which can in itself be dangerous as you would not wish to run out of petrol whilst driving.

Car Hire Tip 8) Please always remember to take your passport, driving licence and credit card with you when you collect the rental car. You will need to have the driving licences of all named drivers and these drivers will need to be included on the rental contract.

Car Hire Tip 9) Always plan you route and journey from your pick up point. The car hire company will be able to provide maps and directions to your destination when you collect the vehicle. However it would be prudent to work out your route in advance. Please bear in mind that if your route involves motorways or toll roads, you will need to have sufficient local currency to cover these toll charges.

You could also consider a hiring or taking a Satellite Navigation system. You will then need to have the full postal address or Post or Zip code of your final destination.

Car Hire Tip 10) Please remember to pre book any extras when you make your reservation, especially childrens equipment such as baby seats and booster seats. Baby seats are in great demand during school holiday periods and remember to be specific should you require a forward facing or rear facing baby seat.

RedRumx8 asked:

I restore headlights almost like new and I only charge $10 for restoration, my friend told me that I should charge more, because $10 dollars is way to low, that he told me that my skills are good and I take lot an hour to do both of them. My friend says to charge like $25 or more, depending on the vehicle, like, cheap to expensive vehicles, or how bad the headlight is. I just want to know some of your opinions,
should I charge the same or should I charge more?

repair your headlights
Kenneth Kwan asked:

The growing statistics concerning accidents during night time accidents is quite disturbing within an increase in casualties. The most common reason for these incidents is damaged headlights, a greater cause than the number of accidents caused by drunk drivers.

Therefore, proper repair must be made to insufficient headlights. Those cars with dim or muggy headlights are in danger due to a greater chance of causing an accident.

There are many factors that contribute such as polluted rain, sun’s harmful rays, snow, and strong rain. Hence, headlights can crack and given that they are made from plastic, they can turn yellow and oxidize.

Dirty headlights reflect on yourself which doesn’t say much. So having cleaning them up may a good idea stylistically. They can also be quite dangerous since it prevents you from seeing properly on a poorly lit street. You or others may be struck without notice because of poor visibility. It is very important to repair them which can easily be done yourself at home.

To change your dirty headlights, you can easily purchase a headlight repair kit at your local automobile store.

If there are no stores accessible, the Internet is another popular option where you can buy the repair kit within the comfort of your home. The kit has a cleaner in it to get rid of any old grime.

To take out any water, you have to take the lens off and make a hole with your drill into the inner chamber under the headlight. The water should come right out but to make sure, use the dehumidifier or air conditioner to make sure it is dry inside.

Smaller issues that may arise such as holes or cracks can be easily patched up with plastic resin which is transparent so no one actually sees it when it is applied. If there are worse conditions, replacement isn’t that difficult either. If you have a halogen bulb within your headlight, then you have to take the hood off and look inside for a black knob. The bulb is connected to that black knob. All you need to do is unscrew it and change it with a new one.

Restoring your headlights is a simple and inexpensive task that you can most probably fix. If there is a serious problem, you may have to visit a mechanic but most likely the issues are not as serious as you may think. Revamping your headlights can be done at home by following simple instructions to improve the look and safety of your vehicle.

car detailing tips

Some of these used car buying tips won’t be new to you. Often the trick is just to apply what you already know. On the other hand, when it comes to expensive areas of life like buying a car, one new thing learned can save you hundreds of dollars. Try some of the following.

For more information on cars buying visit http://car-buying.am-articles.com/

1. Make a low offer. Okay, you knew this one. A trick you may not have used, though, is to make a low offer, and then leave your phone number with the seller. Time has a way of making sellers desperate, especially after you just helped convince them that they are asking too much.

2. Be careful with car price guides. Use the “blue book” etc, but try not to pay more than wholesale. I can’t think of many times when people I know have paid more than “bluebook,” so these “average” sales prices are doubtful.

3. Talk to people. This is one of the simplest and effective used car buying tips. Just let friends, family and others know you’re looking for a car. Quite often people would be happy to avoid the whole process of advertising and showing their car if they could just get rid of it by giving a good deal to a friend.

4. Check out the engine. Have a mechanic look at the car, and tell you what it’s likely to need in the next year or so. Then make a list, so the seller can see in writing why you are offering less than he wants.

5. Auctions. See if there is a public auction in your area. If not, maybe you can go with a dealer friend and give him a $100 to buy a car for you.

6. www.carfax.com. It’s around $25 to run vehicle background checks for a month - long enough to find your next car. They’ll show the chain of title, accident reports for the car, and even safety and reliability scores for that model.

7. “Ugly” cars. Watch for cars that sit on the lot for months. Dealers will often sell these “ugly ducklings” at a loss just to move them. Again, you may want to leave your phone number with a low offer.

8. Rental company cars. They are sold fairly cheap when they get the new ones in. Buy at bluebook wholesale or less, because they have had many different drivers, so they’ve more wear than normal.

9. Repos. Credit unions and some small banks do their own selling of repossessed cars. You usually bid on paper, maybe with a $50 deposit, and then get your $50 back if you’re not the winning bidder. If they don’t sell their own repossessions, ask where they are sold.

10. Consider gas mileage. High mileage may be better, but maybe a car that costs $500 less will use only $400 more gas in the two years you expect to own it. Do the math.

Use the tips here the next time you are shopping for a used car. Meanwhile, why not learn a few negotiating strategies. This helps in many areas of life, and is the most important of these used car buying tips.

My headlights have a film on them and are all fogged up. They looked smoked. Someone told me that a car wash in my town will clean them for $40 and that the film/fog is on the outside which I checked and is. I thought it was on the inside. Is there something I can buy personally and clean them myself?

Miranda Restelle asked:

Jeep Headlights are paramount to the safety of the driving individual. This is especially apparent in cases of night time driving. Though street lamps exist, headlights provide visual acuity that is necessary at all times and thus gives the experience a better sense of security. Sitting behind the wheel and navigating the vagaries of narrow streets or long empty highways in the middle of the night is hard enough. Having Jeep headlights to illuminate the way is one burden off the driver’s back. Hence, in situations of this sort, having headlights that work and hold up tremendously well under pressure plays a significant part in preserving as well as maintaining one’s safety.

Headlights work in the middle of the day as well. Drivers call upon the talents of headlights when they find themselves driving through vicious downpours. Storms in rainy weather do a great deal to dampen one’s spirits and one prime instance of this is how awful climate conditions end up throwing a number challenges for the driving individual. There’s the matter of wheels skidding, of drivers and passengers getting lost in the streets because the rain is coming down too hard, making it difficult for the driver to get a clear view of the road and thereby proceed to wherever he or she must need to go and then there’s mud–which not only makes life for the Jeep’s wheels a trifle harder but for people who must trudge through them as well.

So, for a clearer take of the roads, one can count on those Jeep Headlights to see one through. And if any of the Jeep headlights is already starting to act up some, one must not forget to have it checked out. If the damages are minor, repairs can be done. However, if the filament is burned, better to take it for a new one already.
