Okeoma Okogbue asked:

Driving in the night is usually fraught with danger and risks. It has also been statistically

proven that the injuries incurred in night time accidents are usually more severe in nature.

There exist several factors and numerous variables over which we have no control in

night time driving but there are certain things that we can control.

Among the elements that we cannot control are signs that are no longer reflective, signs

that have been partially obscured by under or over growth of vegetation. Then there are

natural phenomenon like fog and mist. All these factors contribute a great deal to night

time fatalities.

The problem with night time driving is that at night our field of vision is greatly restricted

by the lack of light. So if we can have proper light and sufficient visibility we can greatly

increase our field of vision.

Not only should the light system of our car but that of the other cars work properly as

well. The night time is notorious for increasing the impact of little inconveniences like

dim and clouded headlights.

Headlights are the on thing that we have control over. It is proven that Dimly lit or

clouded headlights severely limit our awareness and our vision. The darkness of the night

also reduces our ability to react or even to see what lies in front of us.

According to reliable sources such as the National Institute for Traffic and Highway

Safety, the biggest reason for severe night time accidents is dim, cloudy and improperly

lit headlights.

If your car’s headlight is ineffective or has a reduced light output, your night time driving

safety is fraught with risk. Out every group of five people at least three of them driving at

night are taking unnecessary risks by driving around with ineffective headlights on their

cars. This is an unnecessary risk as it is easy to replace or fix headlights.

In the past the only option open to car owners was either to replace a bad bulb or to

replace the entire lens.

Usually most dim headlights are not caused by bad bulbs but are actually due to cloudy

and worn headlight lenses, the business of replacement or repair became very expensive

and cost prohibitive.

Now car owners have a better option. Car owners today can avail of a cost effective

alternative, a headlight restoration and cleaning kit.

This headlight restoration and cleaning kit has made it very easy so that headlights that

had once been discarded are now restored to mint new condition again. The net result has

been that driving safety increased manifold and so has peace of mind.

Many police and government agencies have reported a decrease in night time casualties

with the use of this headlight restoration and cleaning kit and most even use it on their

own vehicles.

Barney Garcia asked:

A scooter with the safety feature of a headlight will require some amount of maintenance so you always have a fresh bright headlight. A headlight is generally sealed tight, so little or no water is going to enter the headlight fixture. Many scooters are also available with a scoop over the headlight to prevent additional moisture from reaching the interior of the headlight.

If you do find that your headlight is getting a bit dim, or that you have moisture in the headlight fixture you should replace it. Sometimes a large jolt can break the headlight requiring replacement as well. Every scooter varies in headlight replacement needs, but the headlight is very similar to that of a car.

In order to make your scooter road worthy make sure that its turn signals breaks, headlamps, and chains are intact. This will ensure safety for both the rider as well as the vehicle. Other safety accessories that are a must with a scooter are helmets; drive belts, alarms and locks.

Since the markets have rolled out so many different types of scooters, which vary in shapes, sizes as well as functionality therefore their accessories also differ from model to model.

The headlight that requires a bulb replacement will use a very small bulb, just a size larger than that of a bulb found on a string of lights. Removing the headlight can be accomplished using a screwdriver or a wrench. Some scooters are available with easy to remove headlights that require no tools at all but the movement of a few slip connections to remove the headlight. Simply remove the old bulb, insert the new bulb, and refasten the headlight to the scooter.

Headlights that are one piece, with no interior bulb are easy to replace as well. The one-piece headlight generally is going to require a hex screwdriver or a regular screwdriver to remove the headlight. You can purchase replacement headlights through medical supply houses, through scooter retailers and online headlight sources. Knowing the make and model of your scooter will allow for easy replacement of your scooter headlight.

The once piece headlight is taken out by removing two or four screws that hold it in place. Once you have removed the screws, you pull out the headlight, and unplug the headlight from the scooter. The new headlight will plug into the electrical outlet, and then you place the headlight back into the socket. You should be sure to replace all of the screws you have taken out so your headlight is secure and in place once again.

Remember, every scooter is different, and the type of headlight your scooter is equipped with will be detailed in the manual provided with your scooter.

Imran ali asked:

Sometimes, the headlights could be one of the most unsightly parts of one’s car. These could be busted up due to a traffic accident or they could have simple scratches. They could also be unsightly because of neglect and the presence of dirt and dust in their lenses. The problems of the lights could also be caused by pollution or by the negative effects of harmful UV rays. But one thing is certain and that is the fact that the front lights of a car are often very noticeable and any problems that they have would make the car less attractive.

A lot of owners want to remedy this situation by having the lights for their cars fixed. But many owners of cars believe that having these things fixed could require a lot of time and money. The good news is that with a little research, one can learn about how to have easy headlight repairs and revamps without having to spend a lot of money.

The whole process of buying a new set of headlights could usually cost about six hundred dollars. That doesn’t include the price for having the old ones removed and the new ones set. And that’s also a reason why lots of car owners never bother to have their lights fixed. They think that as long as the lights still work, then it’s okay to still be using them. If they knew how easy having them fixed could be, then they would surely not wait before they have them repaired.

Headlight Cleaners and Restorers Can Do the Job

The first thing needed to fix these car parts is a cleaning and restoring kit. Headlight restoration kits cost as low as thirty dollars but the value they give to your car is well above that price. With restoration kits, even someone who doesn’t know much about restoring cars could make his headlights as good as new.

The clouded and yellowed look that the lenses of some lights have can be caused by factors such as air pollution and UV rays. Having cars with clouded lenses can be a major safety concern. At night when a car needs its lights to illuminate the road ahead, this cloudiness could cause lessened visibility. This problem can be a cause of accidents for cars at night. But by using inexpensive headlight cleaners and restorers, the lights could be fully cleaned and the cloudiness could be easily fixed.

Shop for Replacement Lights for Cars

Another thing that people could do is to get headlight replacement for their cars. There are lights available at cheap prices but one often needs to do a good bit of research to find out which lights are reliable. There are lights available in the market that get worn out easily and there are also some lights that offer only poor nighttime visibility. That is why the buyer has to be very much aware of the quality of the lights that he ends up buying.

Look For Reliable Professional Headlight Restorers

Another choice for people who need their lights fixed could be to bring their cars to car repair professionals. One may go online to find professionals who specialize in headlight cleaning. By using the powerful search features of the World Wide Web, one can find professionals with cheap rates and who could perform the headlight cleaning right at your own home. This makes their services all the more practical and stress-free. And this should also convince car owners to have their headlights restored as soon as possible.

David Maillie asked:

Everywhere you go you will see them - headlights and I’m not talking about girls headlights like Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson have. Plastic ones on your car. The problem is that most aren’t very clear and are unsafe and in need of replacement or repair.

“An average of 9 out of every 10 cars on the road today has dirty or yellowed headlights that greatly reduce vision and need to be replaced, repaired and/or cleaned.” -AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.

“Your night vision can be reduced by as much as 90% by dirty headlights. Get your headlights restored with headlight repair and restorer - This product works!” - Road & Travel magazine.

“Clean the headlights or have them professionally restored and repaired (our department uses New Lite headlight repair and cleaner on all our police cruisers and department vehicles). Dirty headlights will decrease visibility by as much as 90%.” - New York Broome County Police Traffic Division’s Traffic Safety Team.

So it is obvious that it is vitally important to have clean, functional headlights.

Headlight replacement was the only option available until recently. Due to technological advances and extensive research there are products available to clean, restore and even repair worn headlights. Even cracked, leaking headlights can be repaired.

If there is water or condensation inside it must first be removed. This is accomplished by using a small drill bit and drilling a small hole in the bottom of the headlight assembly. It is easiest to remove the lens first and make sure the hole goes all the way into the headlight chamber. Drain all water and then place the headlight assembly next to your air conditioning ducts in your house or a dehumidifier to remove all moisture. Reseal with silicone seal (at all automotive stores - glues will crack and leak). Its also a good idea to check the whole seal that attaches the outer globe to the headlight assembly - reseal if necessary. Then reinstall.

If you have a large crack, or a s hole from a rock or such, there is plastic resin which will seal the lens and increase its integrity. Plastic resin will also maintain a clear and safe appearance so it can pass inspection. Plastic resins can be found at your local hardware store or on your favorite internet search engine.

The biggest problems with plastic lenses is that they get cloudy and worn. This is usually caused by sun or UV damage and a mixture of acid rain or road debris and dirt. The sun breaks down and dries out plastic. It turns them cloudy and yellow and it only takes 2-3 years for this to happen on plastic headlight lenses. Acid rain will usually leave a characteristic line and either the top half or bottem half will be etched from it. Road debris and dirt will basically have a sand blasting effect on the lenses. All these conditions are considered severe weathering and will break down and ruin your headlights - it is just a matter of time. Its like cancer, once it starts to show it will get worse and worse. It will affect your night time visibility and has been proven to cause accidents due to poor visibility.

In the past you had to replace the cloudy headlights with expensive replacements at your local dealer who would charge $400+ and that doesn’t include installation. Now there are headlight cleaner, repair and restoration kits that will do this. In under 20 minutes, in most cases, you can have new looking headlight lenses. To find these kits just type “Headlight Cleaner” into your Google or Yahoo search and they will come right up. One company is even backed by the U.S. government and was awarded a patent by the U.S. government.

So there you have it - the best in headlight repair, headlight restoration, and headlight cleaning. You now know how to remove condensation and water, how to patch scratches and holes, and how to get rid of the cloudy haze that affects 90% of plastic headlights. So go repair your headlights and increase your driving safety at night - you will be glad you did - the life you save may be your own!

If you have cloudy or worn and yellow headlights you are taking a big and unnecessary risk when you drive at night. According to the AAA Foundation For Traffic Safety:

An average of 9 out of every 10 cars on the road today has dirty or yellowed headlights that greatly reduce vision and need to be replaced, repaired or restored.

Most people do not know that not only do worn or cloudy headlights look bad, but they also reduce light output by as much as 95 percent. That is a huge difference in whether you can effectively see or be seen when driving at night.

In a recent search on Google and Yahoo search engines, it was found that thousands of accidents were linked to ineffective light output due to worn and cloudy headlights. The majority of headlight lenses produced today are made of plastic and are very susceptible to road and weather conditions. Harsh UV rays in hot climates, chemicals from the engine and fumes, smog, etc. all take a toll on the plastic and cause it to breakdown from the outside in. The resulting cloudiness is like cancer and quickly gets worse. Soon reducing visibility and making your vehicle unsafe at night.

Accidents caused by reduced light output and bad or cloudy headlights tend to also be much more severe. According to the National Institute For Highway Safety:

Accidents at night due to a more limited visibility are usually of a more severe nature, but when equipped with ineffective headlights the chances for a more severe accident are far greater.

How do we repair or restore the headlights on our cars? According to the New York Police Traffic Division’s Traffic Safety Team:

Clean the headlights or have them professionally restored and repaired (our department uses the MDWholesale headlight restoration kit on all our police cruisers and department vehicles for maximum light output and safety. Dirty headlights can and will decrease visibility by as much as 90%.

Up until now the only solutions were to either replace the cloudy lenses with expensive OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts at your local dealer (headlights can easily cost over $300 each) or to just take the risk and drive with the bad headlights. Now there is an alternative, headlight restoration. You can restore these cloudy headlights to like new condition and be safe again. Restored headlights look new and have the same light output and safety of new headlights for a fraction of the cost. There is a patented headlight restoration system manufactured by MDWholesale which has been determined very effective in increasing night time safety by numerous government agencies and police departments throughout the nation. Please see below link for more information on this headlight restoration system.

So it is a proven fact that worn and cloudy headlights will have a great effect on night time driving and safety. Therefore, headlight restoration is a economic and very effective alternative to headlight replacement.

Driving with faulty or damaged lighting components is a great risk to your safety especially if you have to go through unfamiliar terrains and locations or under low visibility areas. The lights are included in the safety systems of your car to stay away from accidents as much as possible. Its importance is indispensable that is why traffic rules and policies requires the use of standard lighting components although you may also mount optional lights for added illumination of the road you are driving in.

Vitally needed for any vehicle make or model are headlamp or headlights, corner lights or side marker lights fog lights, , turn signal lights, taillights, projector headlights, parking lights, brake lights and projector headlight. Regular check up, repair and maintenance are a must to ensure that the lighting components are in tip top condition to effectively and efficiently perform its expected purpose.

Projector headlights are mounted on the front section of the car. The type of light it gives off is intended for a more focused lighting specifically if the road you’ll be taking is full of twisting curves and rounds. Such trip requires projector headlights in tip top condition so be sure to check it first before taking control of the car’s steering wheel.

Any damaged component must be replaced at once to avoid negative after effects. Replacements and add-ons are accessible both in your nearest local store and in the internet. With web based stores, selection can be made easier since it only requires a little browsing unlike in traditional stores which may need a personal visit to see if the replacement part is suited for the features, specs and configurations of the car. Could be included in your list of choices is an Mustang headlight, the name noted for their top quality performance and distinct auto appeal.

There are several online stores selling quality projector headlights. All you have to do is look for the store that is honest and reliable. There are already many scammers online and the best thing you can do to protect yourself from them is by being careful. One way to know if a store is reliable or not is by calling Consumers Advocates, Consumers Advocates should be able to tell you if a store has any reported misconduct or if a store can be trusted.

At Ilovebodykits.com, you can find many projector headlights with different options to choose, there is black housing projector headlights, chrome housing projector headlights, dual halo projector headlights, single halo projector headlights, blue lens projector head lights, clear lens projector headlights. Black housing projector headlights have became more popular in the market because the factory headlights are usually made with chrome housing and you can see immediately see the difference in the appearance after the installation.

Due to the safety regulation from Department Of Transportations (DOT), all head lights, and projector headlights are required to have amber corner lens and the ones are without it will not be street legal and it should only be equipped as “off road use only”. At ilovebodykits.com, they understand their customer’s need and they are here to help you to enjoy fixing up your everyday ride and remind their customers that safety condition of their vehicle should always be the number 1 consideration.

Miranda Restelle asked:

Headlights are often neglected because automobile owners figure that they are getting washed with the rest of the exterior. However, headlight lenses, even among the most luxurious cars such as Mercedes Benz, are as susceptible to debris and UV degradation as the body paint, perhaps even worse. For example, a Mercedes Benz Headlight Lens is made of polycarbonate plastic in order to make them impact resistant. This plastic is functional, but it can cloud over time as a result of UV exposure. As the lens gets blurred, it restricts the amount of light that can pass through the lens causing reduced visibility. Some basic maintenance and cleaning techniques could be made to correct different problems that may infringe a Mercedes Headlight Lens’ function.

A dirty, yellowed, cloudy and otherwise dim set of headlights is one of the most common problems. Unlike a burned out bulb, yellowing headlight lenses make a C230 or SL60’s lights dimmer slowly over time. Because of this, they easier to ignore. The limited field of vision, however, can pose dangers for the driver and his/her passengers. The easiest way to repair a Mercedes Benz Headlight Lens with yellow or cloudy lenses is to use a lens polishing compound, known also as a rubbing compound. The cleaning method is to rub the lens with wet, fine-grain (1000 grit) sandpaper first. For major damage, a courser grain of sandpaper is needed, perhaps that is 5000 grit. The next step is to polish the lens with a course red polishing compound followed by a fine white compound. When polishing is done, the lens can be cleansed with Armor All or Simple Green. While polishing usually works, some lenses may though, be beyond repair and need to be replaced. In a Mercedes Benz Headlight Lens that accumulates water, water needs to be removed first, before repairing the leak. For plastic lenses, the primary step is to remove the lens and then carefully drill a small hole into the bottom of the lens. Next, the water can be drained out and the hole filled with silicone, urethane, or plastic resin. If a crack or hole is found in the lens, one can repair it with the same product used to patch the drainage hole. Another possible source of leaks is a break in the seal around the headlights. These seals can be repaired with silicone.

Headlights that are dim or incorrectly aligned is a potential accident-factor. Properly aligned headlights should be aimed a little bit low. Incorrect installation, fender benders, or rough driving conditions can knock headlights out of alignment. This misalignment increases glare for the driver and oncoming drivers and impairs his depth of perception.

Although headlight problems are sometimes caused by electrical faults that need professional repair, most problems are simpler to fix. Even if an owner is not all that handy with cars, he/she can learn how to repair headlights in very little time. A burned out bulb is easy to replace and yellow headlight lenses can be cleaned with easy-to-find products. It is always advisable to learn hot to fix simple Mercedes Benz Headlight Lens problems so as to save maintenance and service costs. Headlights are one of the most important safety features on a car, but they can only do their job if they are properly maintained.

John Steel asked:

In the past, automakers designed headlight lenses made from glass so they were limited in the size and shape they could produce. Since then, auto manufacturers began designing cars with plastic headlights. This modification mainly occurred due to the change in the design of cars—cars became lighter and more aerodynamic, plus plastic was by far less expensive to produce than glass. Today this plastic material is the chosen choice because it is very light and can be transformed into unlimited sizes and shapes to satisfy new car designs.

Polycarbonate has its advantages but also has its disadvantages—namely oxidation / discoloration. To the naked eye one cannot tell that these plastic lenses are actually a porous material that expands ever so slightly when it gets hot. Degradation of the lens occurs over time. Having your headlights on or being exposed to the heat of the day causes the pores to open allowing debris from the road to get in. Debris, together with a combination of environmental factors such as the sun (UV rays), smog, acid rain, car exhaust, and harsh chemicals used to wash you car can cause the plastic headlight lenses to become oxidized.

Plastic oxidation leads to lens discoloration, which transforms new, clear, bright, shiny plastic to a dull yellow tint that appears to be foggy, hazy, or cloudy. This process (oxidation), as described above, not only becomes an eyesore but also is unsafe. Because of the degradation of the plastic lens, less light passed through resulting in diminished visibility during night driving. The car owner either had to deal with these cloudy yellow, oxidized headlight lenses posing serious safety issues or purchase expensive replacement headlights costing hundreds or thousands of dollars.

“The Headlight Solution” at www.headlightsolution.net wants the public to know and learn how to restore, clean, polish, and clear those cloudy, yellow plastic headlight lenses on their own without putting more money into the car manufacturer’s pocket. One can restore headlights to like-new condition by taking off the top layer of oxidized plastic. This can be achieved through polishing, wet sanding, or through the use of chemicals. Auto manufacturers would rather you go to them for a headlight repair (charging as much as $150) or headlight replacement ($100-$1,000). The top layer of plastic on the headlights contains a UV polymer that retards or slows down the aging of the plastic lens. Therefore, it is important to use a polish (containing UV polymers) or UV coating to slow down the oxidation or discoloration of the lens. Parking your car in the shade or garage, or maintaining the lens by washing, waxing, and polishing a minimum of every three months, could avoid damage to the headlight lens.

“The Headlight Solution” specializes in headlight restoration. The products we use on a daily basis to renew headlights are indeed the products we sell. Rest assured that when placing an order for any of our headlight restoration kits you are getting the real deal and top quality products. Our business is restoring headlights on used vehicles, as well as restoring the emergency lighting on service vehicles. We not only come to your home or place of business to refinish your headlight lens, but also sell a headlight cleaner or headlight lens cleaner. As a matter of fact, we sell two types of plastic lens cleaners:

1. Basic Headlight Restoration Kit (for light discoloration)

2. Advanced Headlight Restoration Kit (for more severe discoloration)

Both kits work extremely well. Choosing a kit depends on the severity of your vehicle’s lenses. Our kits are very easy to use and do not require the use of special tools or training. Beware of kits that offer backing plates and drill attachments. While they may save time, they may cause irreversible damage due to various drill speeds causing burning or swirls in the plastic lens. First-time users should avoid these kits because it takes skill and practice to control the drill from making these mistakes and possibly slipping off and ruining a perfectly fine paint job.

In our Advanced Headlight Restoration Kit, we even supply a small roll of blue painters tape to mask your headlight to protect your paint job during the restoration process. Along with both kits, one also receives a step-by-step brochure outlining how to clean headlights appropriately to obtain bright, shiny headlamps while restoring optical clarity to your lenses. Both of our kits carry a satisfaction guarantee. If you are not satisfied with either of our products, simply return the remaining contents of the kit for a full refund. If anyone has any questions while reconditioning their headlamps, feel free to email us and one of our trained technicians can walk you through the quick and easy process of headlight restoration.

David Maillie asked:

The auto repair and restoration business has blossomed and grown to be a multi billion dollar business in recent years especially in auto body repair. Along with the rising demand costs have greatly increased. A small dent repair at a local body shop can cost around $600 or more easily to fix. Multiply that by 6 (the average number of parking lot dings, gouges and dents per car) and you can pay over $2000 to just fix all the dents and dings on your car. Yes, car repair to your car or trucks sheet metal is very expensive.

Then, in comes paintless dent repair. Paintless dent repair has been around for over ten years and was first started at local car dealerships for fixing used cars and increasing used car revenues (like headlight restoration). It was started as a way to save money and spruce up the cars, which not only made them look better, but also made them fetch a higher sale price. In a nut shell, paintless dent removal is the repairing of small dents and dings by gently massaging them out with rods and metal bars that are inserted and applied from the backside.

Paintless dent technicians are specially trained with tools similar to pry bars, mirrors and special lights to gently massage and return the formerly bent and stretched metal to its former shape. This may seem difficult, but actually most repairs can be done in 20 -30 minutes and the results are nothing short of amazing. Most dents and dings are easily repaired, unless the dent is on a door edge or a difficult crease then they may only be fixed with traditional auto body shop repairs like sanding, filling and painting. The end result of paintless dent repair in most cases will be like the dent or ding was never there. It is completely removed.

The average cost is around $50 per ding or dent and a discount is usually given for multiple dings and dents. Obviously a used car dealership with a lot of inventory will have lower volume prices around $30 per dent. Paintless dent removal, like headlight restoration, is a high profit margin business that any automotive business can use to add to their bottom line. Many businesses do actually pay their entire lease or rent from these add-on businesses alone.

As lives become more hectic and frantic it is still a good idea to always park far away to avoid the typical shopping lot door dings and dents. But, as we all know they will happen regardless due to a errant shopping cart, reckless kids, etc… There is no way out of it. Dents and dings could even come as hail damage from a bad thunderstorm, a ding from the neighborhood kids soccer ball, etc. It will happen, but you do not have to pay through the nose to have them fixed and keep your car or truck in pristine condition. Paintless dent removal, just like headlight restoration is for headlights, is the best solution for small everyday dings and dents.

We see them every day - cars we can barely see at night due to bad, ineffective, or improperly aimed headlights in need of repair. “An average of 9 out of every 10 cars on the road today has dirty or yellowed headlights that greatly reduce vision and need to be replaced, repaired or professionally cleaned.” - AAA Foundation for traffic safety. Not only can you barely see them, but what can their driver see - or not see for that matter? “Your night vision can be reduced by as much as 90% by dirty headlights.” Road & Travel magazine. This is just not safe. What if there is a large pot hole, children near the street, a deer nearby, etc… Cars with cloudy, dirty headlights just aren’t safe and can be down right dangerous. In a recent search of the leading search enginesGoogle and Yahoo there are thousands of accidents, many deadly that were attributed to cloudy headlights in need of repair.

How do we repair or fix the headlights on our cars? “Clean the headlights or have them professionally restored and repaired (our department uses New Lite headlight cleaner on all our police cruisers and department vehicles- www.mdwholesale). Dirty headlights will decrease visibility by as much as 90%.” New York Police Traffic Division’s Traffic Safety Team. You can now purchase an amazing product that will remove years of neglect and damage and repair, clean and restore the headlights to new again for a fraction of the price of new replacements which can cost $300 or more at your local dealer. For more information on this product look it up on the search engines google or yahoo.

Another important item is to have your headlights properly aimed. If they are off even by a minor amount this can really reduce your visibility and your headlights effectiveness. Go to your local inspection station and for a nominal fee they will professionally calibrate your lenses. Its well worth it.

After professionally cleaning, restoring, repairing and aiming your lenses, you might want to consider xenon replacement bulbs. They are pretty cheap and can be purchased all over the internet (just look up xenon in the search engines google and yahoo or ask jeeves). They cost around $5-$15 a piece and will increase your light brightness by 20-40%. This could be the difference in being able to stop in time from a deer running out in the road, or worse like stalled cars with no lights.

This is why many states have thorough inspections to determine the effectiveness of your headlights. Its for your own safety and not to line the states coffers with a new source of revenue - thats what traffic tickets are for! So get your headlights repaired, cleaned and restored. Have them properly aimed and inspected. And upgrade to xenon bulbs for maximum visibility. You will save money and be glad you did - you may even save a life!
